Summertime in New York City is arguably the most electrifying time of the year given that the roof parties are bustling, the fire hydrants are letting loose on the streets to help you cool down and the ice cream trucks are often rolling down the streets. And to pay homage to the latter, Anderson Bluu and Diadora have joined hands to generate a two-piece footwear collection inspired by ice cream trucks that entail the classic N.9002 silhouette.“It’s not Summertime in New York City until you hear the jingle of the ice-cream truck coming down your block. I wanted to create a sneaker design that felt nostalgic for people of all ages,” says Anderson Bluu. Popular soft serve flavors of “Vanilla Cone” and “Chocolate Cone” serve as the focal points for this team-up. The former colorway is fitted with pink and blue leather overlays that are symbolic of rainbow sprinkles while the latter is stylized with brown logos and overlays to mimic that delectable cocoa aesthetic. Both pairs also come with insoles that feature sprinkles and melting ice cream graphics. The Ice Cream Truck Collection will be released exclusively via Foot Locker and Champs Sports on August 25, 2022. The MSRP is set at $120 USD a pop.Furthermore, Foot Locker will be celebrating the launch though an event at its Washington Heights community store, located at 605 West 181 st St, New York, New York on August 25 from 4pm-7pm EDT to shop the kicks and enjoy ice cream by Mikey Likes It.In other news, Diadora’s latest B.560 colorway evokes tennis nostalgia.

Fucking Awesome Returns to the adidas Experiment 2 in a “Triple Black”
After launching the Experiment 1 in “Dust Sand” last month, adidas and Fucking Awesome (FA) have reconnected to release the Experiment 2 in “Triple Black.” As part of adidas Originals’ ongoing partnership with American skate brand FA, the duo has revisited 2021’s slim, leather covered Experiment 2 with an all-black look. Inspired by old-school skate shoes, founder Jason Dill connects the past with the present in this latest release. The “Triple Black” look favors black on its leather upper, rubber sole unit and textile lining while a gold adidas Originals logo hits the heel branding. Notably, this pair’s co-branding avoids expletives on the surface by utilizing a simple “FA” at the tongue alongside various national flags. However, a maroon, terry lined sockliner is debossed with the Fucking Awesome name repeated throughout. The alternate laces match this shade of red in case the default black is too subtle.Release for the Fucking Awesome x adidas Experiment 2 “Triple Black” has begun via FA while an adidas release date of August 13 is set at 10am EDT and priced at $110 USD.In case you missed it, Pharrell’s latest contribution to the Three Stripes is the adidas Hu NMD “Animal Print Blue.”
Eytys’ SS22 Quest Sandal Takes Hiking Really Seriously
Eytys is no stranger to experimentation, often delving into the intriguing world of shapes and avant-garde forms to create footwear that spans genres — such as its new Quest sandal.Seen in the Stockholm-based brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 lookbook, the Quest now appears in either “Black,” “Seashell” or “Sierra” colorways, each of which lends themselves to the increasingly overlapping world of urban footwear and hiking culture. Regardless of the colorway, you’ll find an exterior made from a variety of crisscrossing straps and panels that hook into the sole unit (more on that later), each made from leather and nubuck suede. Eytys’ branding decorates rubber grips that have been added to the upper section to help you better adjust the pair, while “quest” daintily decorates the heel, a component that is padded and chunky in its own right.Elevating those overgrown credentials is the sole unit, which despite being a single piece manages to be gargantuan in size. Ripples run along the side wall while a small lip extends from the front and rear of the sandal, adding more bulk for that retro ’90s hiking footwear attitude. But it’s all welcome, especially in the tan and purple-toned “Sierra” colorway, as this only adds to Eytys’ ever-growing identity as a brand that knows how to throw it back to the past while acknowledging — and somewhat creating — contemporary footwear trends. Those looking to pick up a pair of these convexed Quest sandals should head in-store or onto Eytys’ website now, where the silhouette retails for £230 GBP (approx. $280 USD).In case you missed it, check out this week’s issue of Sole Mates.
