Jordan Brand and Nike are in preparation to celebrate Chinese New Year in 2022 as both parties recently pulled back the curtains on their upcoming footwear and apparel collections. Like the former’s 2020 capsule, it will once again shine a light on the Air Jordan 1 Low OG, and its latest “Chinese New Year” installment has been officially revealed. The Chinese zodiac for 2022 is the Year of the Tiger, and it’s for this impending rendition that the brand really takes that to heart in terms of the kicks’ visual appearance. Smooth leathers make up the top half, and it’s furnished with black and soft orange tiger stripes atop the toe boxes and quarter panels while a cream color dresses up the forefoot and lower heel overlays. Bursts of bold orange accents also take a seat at the table here as they arrive on the Nike Air tongue logos, heightened heel overlays that are emblazoned with solid black tiger insignias and the insoles which are decorated with Hawaiian shirt-esque tiger and tree patterns. Midsoles are designed with an all-white exterior and come mated with orange-tinted outsoles that host oversized Air Jordan wings logos. The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chinese New Year” will be limited to just 5,000 pairs, and you can expect it to drop on December 30 in Greater China via Nike. A stateside release has yet to be confirmed. You can peep the full Nike and Jordan Brand “Year of the Tiger” collection here.

Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 14 “Aunt Pearl” Colorway Is Unveiled
In 2012, Kevin Durant and his Nike team crafted a special Nike KD 4 colorway to honor his Aunt Pearl — who unfortunately passed away in 2000 in a battle against lung cancer. Since then, the Swoosh’s basketball division has kept this tradition going on each of the Brooklyn Nets All-Star’s signature sneakers, and now it has officially unveiled the Nike KD 14 “Aunt Pearl.”The kicks are rife with various patterns, materials and intricate details. Base layers are engineered with a soft pink knitted material and come outfitted with all-over swirly patterns. Dusted pink accents also make their presence felt here on the tongues and laces, the former of which splits its gilded branding between “KD” on the right shoe and “”Aunt Pearl” on the left. Heel counters have been sculpted with wing-like shapes — a detail that we’ve previously seen on the “Aunt Pearl” KD 12 and KD 7 makeups. Inside the shoes, the inner layer of the tongues and the insoles read “”In Memory of Aunt Pearl, Who Inspired Us All To Continue To Fight For Cure” and are accompanied by Kay Yow branding.Midsoles bring in more playful elements as they are fitted with two shades of pink and speckled patterns, and the outsoles are treated with gum skin. Parties interested in adding these to their hoops collection can find these dropping in 2022 for $160 USD.In case you missed it, M. Williams’ Nike yoga collection just dropped.
Extra Butter Takes the Saucony Shadow 600 Down the Rabbit Hole
Extra Butter has linked up with Saucony for a new take on the Shadow 600 silhouette, taking influence from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and celebrating the White Rabbit character. The White Rabbit is referenced through the sneaker’s color palette, as well as details that nod to metaphysical idea of going “down the rabbit hole.”The sneaker sports a white base across its premium leather, pig suede, and sport mesh upper. This is offset with touches of red and blue, as well as reflective detailing a white rabbit graphic on the tongue, replacing the Saucony “running man” logo. Additionally Extra Butter has added a hidden reference to the original inspiration behind the phrase “further down the rabbit hole,” while the colorful box nods to the psychedelic undertones to the story. The Extra Butter x Saucony Shadow 600 is due to release alongside a range of apparel and accessories, which continue the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland theme. Including a T-shirt, hoodie, sweatpants and a deck of cards, the pack features a ’70s-inspired set of psychedelic white rabbit graphics.Launching the collaboration, Extra Butter’s Bernie Gross said: “In an age of information overload and technology influenced social behavior, we’re seeing a shift in questioning one’s purpose, identity and even how one can alter reality and truth around them. We’re seeing people utilize the web to dig deeper into knowledge, while others look to disconnect and explore within their subconscious for spiritual or psychedelic enlightenment. Though this shoe design is simple at first glance, there are nuances that elevate the design and speak to willingness to discover.”Extra Butter’s take on the Saucony Shadow 600 is available alongside the apparel capsule from the brand’s Lower East Side and Long Island City locations, as well as its web store. A global release is due at select stockists on January 7.As well as Extra Butter’s rework, the Saucony Shadow 600 also recently got a redesign courtesy of ALIFE.
