Air Jordan 11 Adapt Receives a Cool “University Blue” Makeover

Nike shook the sneaker game up in 2016 when it finally introduced Adaptive Fit technology — an innovative, self-lacing system that was first exhibited by the ever-classic Air Mag from the Back to the Future film franchise. In 2020, this tech system finally trickled over to the Jordan Brand side with the release of the Air Jordan 11 Adapt, and the model will soon extend its catalog with a new “University Blue” colorway. From a palette standpoint, this forthcoming rendition sports similar elements to the Air Jordan 11 “Columbia” makeup, but it has been modernized for a more futuristic feel. Synthetic upper constructions are dialed to an icy baby blue hue and come layered with tonal grid patterns across the laceless tongues and side panels. Contrasting notes of a lighter gray arrive on the mudguards — which discard the customary patent leather and appear with suede skin — as well as the eyelets, tongue tabs and Jumpman logos on the collars. The midsoles — which house the Adaptive Fit buttons to tighten and loosen the shoes — are given an all-white paint job while the outsoles round everything off with a “University Blue” tint.No release info have been unveiled at this time, but it’s likely that Nike and other shops could be dropping these in the coming months for $500 USD.In other sneaker news, the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Fire Red” is reportedly getting retro’d in 2022.
