The Nike Air Max 96 Takes on a “Persian Violet” Color Scheme

Nike’s Air Max 96 is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and the Swoosh’s Air Max BW is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, so it seems only right that the former’s sporty build is colliding with the latter’s most famous color scheme on the Air Max 96 “Persian Violet.” One of several “Persian Violet” tribute sneakers to be revealed in recent weeks — others include the Air Max 90, Air Tuned Max, Air Max Plus and Air Max 270 — this Air Max 96 is a dual-pronged piece of Nike Sportswear history. The Air Max 96’s most defining feature is its fierce, jagged upper. Here, that upper is done up in a regal violet tone, one that’s quickly embellished with a wealth of white and black overlays. Black is used on the mudguards, toe caps, horizontal midfoot overlays, heels and eyestays, while the vertical midfoot overlay, Swoosh, second heel piece and tongue all combine white and black for a yin-yang look. Further branding is served up by a small white eyestay Swoosh on the lateral side and an Air Max hit on the tongue, while down below black midsoles with purple Air Max cushioning units finalize the style. If you’re interested in copping a pair of the Nike Air Max 96 “Persian Violet,” it’s available now via Nike GB. The MSRP is set at $160 USD.For more Swoosh news, be sure to check out the Nike Waffle One in a vivid “Hyper Pink/University Red” colorway.
