J. Crew Taps Blackstock & Weber for Loafer Collaboration

J. Crew has linked up with Blackstock & Weber, marking one of the label’s first projects since Brendon Babenzien joined as Chief Menswear Officer. The collaboration features Blackstock & Weber’s classic penny loafer silhouette, which has been dressed in a brown suede and cow print construction. The stand-out feature of the loafer is its brown and white cow print pony hair upper, which contrasts against the brown suede sections around the shoe and across the strap. Finishing off the design is a navy blue lining, as well as a Goodyear welting and a double leather sole with storm welting. As with all Blackstock & Weber releases, the silhouette is inspired by AMG vehicles and the Porsche 911 to create a more commanding loafer design. While the collaboration marks a new start under Babenzien for J. Crew, it also represents a full circle moment for Blackstock & Weber founder Christopher Echevarria. Launching the project, Echevarria said, “One of my first retail jobs was with this brand. I used to fold shirts in here. This collab means a lot to me. My time at J. Crew was the foundation I built on to get me where I am today.”The J. Crew x Blackstock & Weber loafer will release via the J.Crew web store at 11AM EST on September 24.
