Vans Strips Back Classic Silhouettes for “Eco Theory” Collection

Vans has presented a stripped-back take on some of its best-loved silhouettes, giving the shoes a new sustainable focus. Dubbed the “Eco Theory” collection, the new capsule features the Authentic, Slip-On and Style 36, each of which is constructed from responsibly sourced materials.Throughout the collection, Vans uses organic cotton, natural rubber, jute laces and cork-lined footbeds, as well as constructing the shoes through water-based inks and glues. For the new Authentic “Eco Theory,” Vans has dressed the shoe in either a “Natural/Double Light Gum” colorway or the brand’s signature checkerboard pattern. These designs are also used on the checkerboard slip-on and the muted Style 36.Launching the capsule, Vans professional surfer Dane Gudauskas said, “Sustainability has to be at the forefront of Vans for the future. It’s a fantastic moment to own the space and contribute to a more sustainable way of producing.”Vans’ “Eco Theory” collection is available now from select retailers and the Vans Surf site. For more from Vans, Vault by Vans recently debuted a collaboration with The Trilogy Tapes.
