Universal Works and Yogi’s New Footwear Collaboration Prioritizes Comfort

Following its second collaboration with SAUCONY earlier this month, Nottingham-based label Universal Works has just presented its latest footwear collection, connecting with Yogi Footwear to “echo the cinematic mood” set by Universal Works’ “Far From Memphis” collection. The collection, which is built on shared ideas about style, comfort, and craft, features five shoes, including two versions of Yogi’s chunky, ranger-style Finn Moc. Additionally, Yogi’s Hitch shoe is revitalized with low-top and slip-on features, while also complemented with an “undercurrent of playful experimentation.”Furthermore, Universal Works and Yogi’s partnership comes alongside a short film, celebrating the collaboration by capturing cinematics that evoke feelings from those moments in life when you believe nobody is watching.Commenting on the collaboration, Universal Works co-founder, David Keyte, said: “I have a genuine love of Yogi. They really do make something that can provide the comfort of a sneaker whilst fulfilling the need for a proper shoe. That’s easier said than done, but Yogi always manages to pull it off.”You can take a closer look at the new Yogi x Universal Works collaboration above and it’s available to shop via the official Universal Works website now.In other footwear news, check out the Nike Dunk Low “NBA Paris.”

SOUTH2 WEST8 Reconnects With Suicoke for Fall-Ready Footwear

Fall is upon us and Japanese labels SOUTH2 WEST8 and Suicoke have put together another seasonal assemblage of footwear options. Previously, the duo presented two pairs of Sherpa boots in 2019 and followed up with two patterned looks on the Bower silhouette in 2020. Now, they have again prepared the Bower with two patterned options that also land on the slip-on Pepper as well.”Horn Camo” and “Native Skull & Target” serve as the aforementioned patterns used, tapping a forest-like brown mix for the former and a purple-on-black finish for the latter. Both silhouettes utilize eVent lining that offers ample weather resistance courtesy of its waterproofness and breathable properties. Each shoe’s padding favors a Thinsulate filling as a cork insole backs the pairs with additional water absorption and insluation. The latest project between SOUTH2 WEST8 and Suicoke launches on September 29 at 10pm EDT via NEPENTHES storefronts and September 30 at 6pm EDT via Suicoke. Prices start at ¥28,600 JPY (approx. $192 USD) for the Pepper silhouette and go up to ¥37,400 JPY (approx. $251 USD) for the Bower silhouette. View this post on Instagram A post shared by SOUTH2 WEST8 OFFICIAL (@south2_west8_official)Looking for more of the latest collaborative news from the footwear space? The Nike Air Alpha Force 88 Takes on “Red Stardust” and “Medium Grey”

Kicking off 2023, the rumor mill spared no time in teasing what was to come from the year. Word of the Nike Air Alpha Force 88 returning to the market popped up, leading to the shoe’s eventual return in July. The shoe, as seen on Michael Jordan in the release period between the Air Jordan 2 and 3, has adopted a myriad of colorways — both old and new — with black and white serving as predominant hues.In “Red Stardust” and “Medium Grey,” the retro silhouette has been refreshed with suede detailing across the upper. The former leans on its signature soft pink, having it coat everything from the midfoot strap to the heel embroidery while a dark cream color can be spotted at the stitched sole unit. As for its “Medium Grey” counterpart, the suede and leather upper similarly sees its primary shade spread throughout while the sole unit favors a beige-gray finish.Nike has yet to announce any release details regarding both the “Red Stardust” and “Medium Grey” colorways of the Air Alpha Force 88. Hang tight as we await official word from the Swoosh as these pairs are expected to hit shelves by the end of 2023 via Nike and select retailers at a price of $130 USD each.Looking for more of the latest news from the footwear industry?
