Exclusive First Look at Bottega Veneta’s Futuristic Barefoot Shoe and Puddle Boot-Based Sandal

Daniel Lee is bringing Bottega Veneta into the hustle and bustle of fashion’s “what to be seen in” crowd, with footwear styles such as its unmissable and viral Puddle Boots or the heavy-duty pairs from Fall 2020 dominating looks last season. Now, the label continues the momentum with its latest offering from the Salon 01 collection, introducing a Barefoot second-skin style and a sandal that’s modeled on the aforementioned Puddle Boot.Starting with the Barefoot style, the pair positions Bottega Veneta further into the world of functionality and techwear. While this was somewhat seen with its just-dropped slip-on sneakers, the elements couldn’t be clearer here as the style features an entire body — sole included — made using Barefoot technology which hugs the foot like a second skin, all while maximalizing comfort and performance. Available in sizes for all, the pair comes in vibrant hues such as “Yellow/Red/Green” and “Red/Green/Blue,” while the inner slip-on component is also available in tones of brown and bright green. In contrast to the futuristic Barefoot pair, Bottega Veneta also presents the Puddle Boot as an entirely new concept. While visual cues nod to the popular boot — for example its rounded toe and the smooth body — it’s vastly different thanks to the low-cut style, sling-back heel support, tongue feature, and flat sole bed.The sandal is made from a biodegradable polymer base which adds a level of sustainability to the pair, and contributes to the sandal’s uniquely smooth aesthetic that presents colors such as brown, blush pink, and cream. Take a look at the Bottega Veneta shoe styles from the Salon 01 collection above, and pre-order everything from the Daniel Lee-designed collection on Bottega Veneta’s website from February 25.For more futuristic footwear, check out the latest installment of Sole Mates in which Mr. Bailey professes his love for the Nike ISPA Road Warrior.

Kiko Kostadinov’s Norman Shoe Is Fit for the Middle Ages

Kiko Kostadinov continues to step back into the past with yet another pair of ye olde-styled shoes, following on from his 00102021 SIROKKÓ-presented Chelsea boot with the new Norman shoe. This Spring/Summer 2021 pair is presented in “Night Tulip/Alpine Green,” which covers the shoe’s Nappa leather base and crepe rubber sole unit. In a similar theme to the Chelsea boots, Kostadinov adds a central design detail that sports geometric designs cut out of the leather, revealing an “Alpine Green” underlayer.Alongside this, the shoe features a stripe of silver metal rivets that lead the eye to the square toe. Elsewhere, details such as a medial-side zipper, a flap-over heel collar, and an outsole that wraps over the heel and toe like a driving shoe have been added, rounding out the pair’s look.Kiko Kostadinov’s Norman shoe in “Night Tulip/Alpine Green” can be seen above and purchased at stockists such as Très Bien for $600 USD while stocks last. For more daring footwear, check out the new range of Bottega Veneta styles from Daniel Lee’s Salon 01 collection.

Casablanca Brings “Effortless Elegance” to Latest New Balance Collaboration

After teasing a selection of upcoming collaborative New Balance sneakers in its recent Fall/Winter 2021 presentation, Casablanca and the Boston-based sneaker brand come together for another forthcoming release, this time introducing an all-new 237 silhouette, alongside another rework of the popular 327.Dressed in the French label’s jacquard monogram, both sneakers boast textile overlays that wrap around the toe and heel area, while an oversized “N” logo — a feature that’s become synonymous with the pair’s collaborations — is housed on the medial side of the 327’s perforated upper, and both sides of the 237. Both sit atop a green nubbed sole that creeps onto the upper, although the 237’s white and pink rubber sole takes on a more classic appearance to that of the 327’s sports-inspired shaping.”The 237 is a softer, more versatile silhouette,” explains Charaf Tajer, Casablanca’s French-Moroccan designer. “For us it was about bringing the effortless elegance of Casablanca into the design of the silhouette. With all of the New Balance collaborations we always work together on creating a classic silhouette that is timeless”.Described as a “direct descendant to the 327”, the 237 takes notes from its predecessor with elegance remaining the brand’s main focus. “It has the same DNA [as the 327], but some of the lines and forms of the panels are less aggressive, more sleek,” continues Tajer. “Straight lines are replaced with rippled lines that run through the silhouette from the toe box, to the outsole”.With no less than three 327 collaborations in 2020, Tajer admitted he has a deep emotional connection with the popular silhouette. “It [the 327] was our first collaboration with New Balance, we’re so proud to see how much of a classic and timeless silhouette this has gone on to become,” he explained. “Looking ahead we are working with New Balance on some exciting projects for the future, we’re always trying to evolve. But the 327 will always be my first love”.Both styles will be releasing on February 27 via the Casablanca webstore, retailing at £140.00 (approximately $196 USD).In other sneaker news, check out the Whitaker Group’s exclusive Nike Waffle One, which is inspired by Bill Bowerman’s footwear experiments.
