Jordan Brand’s Delta 2 Releases in Two Summer-Ready Colorways
Jordan Brand’s Delta 2 is an undeniably futuristic lifestyle sneaker, one with an intricately detailed upper and an undeniable dose of technical flair. However, on its two latest colorways — one of which offers a fresh take on the classic “Grape” color scheme, the other of which uses “Infinite Lilac” accents for a palette somewhat reminiscent of the Air Max 95 “Neon” — the Delta 2 bridges the gaps between past, present and future for appealing summertime style.Officially dubbed “Platinum Tint/White/Particle Grey/Dark Smoke Grey,” the “Grape”-esque colorway uses muted white and gray shades on its upper, but livens its look up with rich purple and aqua accents on the heel clip and tab, the eyestays and more. “White/Platinum Tint/Grey Fog/Infinite Lilac” follows a similar ethos, but calls upon its eponymous lilac shade and an elegant smoky black for its primary accents.Molded mesh quarter panels provide a textured base for both shoes, and also feature embroidered “Jordan” spellouts. Technical tags appear on the tongues, and the upper’s entire assemblage sits atop a cushy React foam midsole that’s bolstered with rubber in high-wear areas on the heel and toe to increase durability. Swooping mudguards and suede heel pieces round off both looks. The Jordan Delta 2 “Platinum Tint/White/Particle Grey/Dark Smoke Grey” and “White/Platinum Tint/Grey Fog/Infinite Lilac” are both available via Nike GB now, and will likely arrive in the US soon. MSRP is set at $115 USD.For more from the Jumpman, take a look at a new Air Jordan 1 Mid with heat-reactive heel paneling that changes colors at different tempertures.
Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 “OG” Nods to the Genesis of the Breaking2 Project
Nike’s ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 has released in an “OG” colorway that nods to the genesis of the Breaking2 project by replicating the “Ice Blue/University Red” color scheme used on 2017’s Zoom Vaporfly Elite. As any Nike Running fan will recall, the Breaking2 project — helmed by the late Sandy Bodecker — was a Swoosh “moonshot” initiative to break the two-hour marathon barrier. Though Breaking2 wasn’t successful until 2019, its first attempt in 2017 did set a then-world marathon record and saw elite runners like Eliud Kipchoge take the track in a very specific blue and red Zoom Vaporfly Elite colorway. Therefore, this new ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 is a salute to that moment in running history. The shoe’s top half is built from an icy blue Atomknit material, with a large black medial Swoosh swooping up from the toebox to the heel and a smaller black lateral Swoosh appearing directly under the collar. These details stand in stark contrast to the red “mudguard” on the forefoot and toebox, which is adorned with white print. Heels add stopwatch and Nike Running-inspired graphics into the mix as well.Down below, the soft ZoomX foam midsole comes to a sharp point at the heel. Inside its cushy foam folds sits the ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2’s signature technological innovation: a full-foot carbon fiber plate that provides exemplary energy return, enabling the wearer to run faster and longer without fatigue. Stripped-back outsoles place rubber in high-wear areas under the forefoot and heel to enhance durability and complete the look. The Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 “OG” is available now at Nike GB. Its MSRP is set at a standard $225 USD.For more footwear news, take a look at the latest installment of HYPEBEAST’s Sole Mates series, in which USMNT footballer Tyler Adams shares his love for Air Jordans.
