Since its resurgence, Bottega Veneta has become a footwear pioneer — and Matthieu Blazy aims to continue this streak of great designs with the House’s new Beebee offering.Coming in either clog or slide form, and in either “Black” or “Sea Salt,” the Beebee style utilizes Bottega Veneta’s signature Intreccio weave to create the body of each shoe. The only difference here is that all four pairs are made from an ultra-lightweight rubber, craft in a one-piece molded shape, as opposed to the usual leather construction. The result is a clog and slide designed for the warmer months ahead, destined to be worn all day long as they’re not just super light, but super comfortable. Bottega Veneta manages this with a flatform sole unit and a smooth (yet still branded) interior that’s unlined, before creating ergonomic shapes inside the Beebee for ultimate easy-on, easy-off comfort. As expected, the Beebee is made in Italy and comes at a premium — $550 USD for the slides and $600 USD for the clogs. Gucci Throws It Back With the Retro-Inspired MAC80 Sneaker
As Gucci continues to reshape its identity under the helm of its broader creative team and the appointment of Sabato de Sarno as its new lead Creative Director, the House is quietly releasing products that welcome a new era. For its latest move, Gucci unveils the MAC80 sneaker.Arriving in seven colorways — ranging from black or white leather versions to iterations paneled with blue, green, or red satin — the MAC80 draws from retro low-top basketball sneakers from the 1970s and 1980s. Gucci achieves this aesthetic by creating a padded, cushioned, ventilated construction, centering around a textile panel in the mid section that holds an “Interlocking G” motif in the center.A light amount of discoloration and distressing works multiple colorways, adding scuffs and black rub marks to the Gucci-embroidered tongues and the yellow-aged midsole. Likewise, the flat laces and the “Interlocking G” panel are very lightly discolored, adding to the vintage effect.Completing the pairs are complementing colorway-focused outsoles and MAC80-branded insoles. Gucci’s new silhouette retails for £660 or $950 USD, and all pairs can be bought online or in-store now.In other news, A-COLD-WALL* has also released a new in-house-designed sneaker.
