UNDERCOVER Taps Melissa for Thorny Footwear Collaboration
In their first-ever collaboration, Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER and Brazilian footwear label Melissa have gone full punk. Across three footwear silhouettes and one bag, the two brands have transformed Melissa’s signature Melflex® constructions with PVC thorns, spikes and studs.Among the range, the Spikes Boots reject footwear’s status quo and place the laces on the back of the construction, leaving the front upper construction smooth and seamless. Down below, however, you can look but don’t touch: the silhouette is lined with dramatic spikes. The Beach Spikes Sandal is similarly aggressive, with realistic thorns and classic studs lining the front and back straps, while the Beach Slide Spike has more charm, with a central flower design planted front and center. Still, though, the latter silhouette presents its fair share of thorns. Rounding out the range, the Together Bag fits across the body, boasting a jagged-cut ribbon in its center, surrounded by more spikes. The UNDERCOVER x Melissa collaboration is slated to launch on Wednesday, February 8, across select UNDERCOVER stores in Japan as well as on the brand’s website. Closer Look at Reese Cooper’s Upcoming Merrell 1TRL Collaboration
In June of last year, Reese Cooper revealed a collaborative project with Merrell 1TRL featuring the Hydro Moc. Following this, the young designer has now shared a closer look at his work with Merrell 1TRL, revealing three silhouettes outfitted in his design language. Notably, the Hydro Moc is absent from the range and is said to be hitting shelves later on in the year.First, two colorways of the Hydro Runner slip-on have been prepared. Its EVA shell appears in a soft beige and a dark gray and muted yellow mixture respectively. Supporting the looks, a deep green lands on both alongside matching brown and yellow hues. Joining the range, the MTL MQM is offered in black and green and all-black colorways backed by the silhouette’s signature internal bootie and TPU waterproof shell. Rounding things out, what looks to be an updated take on the Moab Speed is featured in green/gray and brown/gray. All of the footwear options carry co-branding elements throughout with the latter two also spotlighting the inclusion of Vibram outsoles. The launch of Reese Cooper’s Merrell 1TRL collection begins at New York Fashion Week where pairs will be available for sale via their NYC pop-up store on February 11 and February 12. Following this, an online release is said to take place soon after.
