In 2020, Kiko Kostadinov announced that he was going to stop making official footwear collaborations with ASICS. Since then, he’s stayed associated with the Japanese sportswear imprint by providing design direction for its lifestyle footwear category and contributing to collaborative projects with the likes of Brain Dead and HYSTERIC GLAMOUR. Fast forward to the present, the Bulgarian designer is now reigniting his partnership with ASICS and introducing his newest offering: the Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-QUANTUM ZIENTZIA.The new, low-slung silhouette isn’t too dissimilar to what we’ve seen from the duo before. The overall shape and tooling can be compared to Kostadinov’s ASICS GEL-QUANTUM LEVITRACK offerings from 2021 as its eye stays and tiger stripe logos are positioned in similar spots. Its upper is crafted with a breathable mesh that is backdropped in black and comes offset with metallic silver overlays that are planted near the collars. Royal blue accents are sprinkled across the ASICS hits land on the tongues, heels and the aforementioned tiger stripes. Riding down below is a curvy midsole piece while its segmented GEL-cushioned trading is designed with milky forefoot pods and glossy blue heel units.Look for these to launch via the Kiko Kostadinov site on February 28.Elsewhere in sneakers, check out a first look at the UNAFFECTED x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 14.

A Nike Air Max 1 Slide is Coming Soon
Most slip-on silhouettes are hibernating through the wintertime but there’s no doubt that 2023 will be another big year for laceless footwear. Preparing for this, Nike revealed an upcoming slide version of its iconic Air More Uptempo silhouette. Now, a first look at a simplified version of the Air Max 1 has surfaced.Arriving in the OG “Sport Red” color scheme, the slide has neatly converted the Air Max 1 into a stripped down form. The footbed pops in the colorway’s signature red, resting atop the sneaker’s classic visible Air unit and a white midsole. Most notably, the strap features the front portion of a Swoosh on each side, landing on a soft gray overlay that is joined by a white mesh base and red suede mudguard. At its center, the strap prominently displays a Nike Air Max tag to complete the look.No information regarding the launch of the Nike Air Max 1 Slide has hit the net just yet. Stay tuned for an official reveal as it’s possible the new slip-on silhouette will be a part of Nike’s Air Max Day celebration next month. In other exciting footwear news, the Air Max 1 Crepe “Soft Grey” — which just shock dropped via the SNKRS app — has been officially revealed by Nike ahead of its proper release later this month.
New Balance 580 Gets Sprinkled With “Nightwatch Green” Accents
After getting remixed in wild color palettes by Stray Rats and then dropping in a scrumptious “Beef and Broccoli” palette, the New Balance 580 is looking to expand its inline roster with another entry this season. The lifestyle’s newest installment takes on a “White/Nightwatch Green” theme, and detailed on-foot shots of the pair have been released courtesy of atmos Tokyo.Starting out with the base layer, the kicks’ mesh underlays and smooth leather overlays are both treated with a pure white hue. Given that this neutral-toned hue covers most of the real estate, its “Nightwatch Green” accents are able to shine as they tumble onto the supple suede tongues, throat, heels and toe boxes. A hint of gray pokes out through the quarter panel’s ribbed mold to provide a touch of contrast while the Rollbar-cushioned midsole pieces are drenched with a pale yellow paint job to equip the shoes with vintage flair. While these aren’t an official collaboration, they almost give off a tennis vibe that ALD’s Teddy Santis favors with his New Balance collaborations.Retailers like atmos and Packer have these available right now for $140 USD.For more footwear news, check out the upcoming Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 860v2 collaborations.
