For Nike’s introduction of the Air Max Scorpion in 2022, the Swoosh let the silhouette speak for itself. Lacking any collaborations or themed releases in its debut year, the sneaker now finds itself a part of the brand’s Chinese New Year-themed “Leap High” collection for 2023’s Year of the Rabbit. Joining other silhouettes such as the Air Force 1 High Utility 2.0, Blazer Mid and ACG Lowcate, the Air Max Scorpion hops into the fray.Beginning at the upper, the shoe’s signature Flyknit chenille composition appears in a bright white with thematic shapes. Its black Swooshes are embroidered with a shape that replicates movement with its unique tail. The theme’s custom tongue design reappears with “Leap High” text joined by Nike branding. Pivoting to the sneaker’s eye-catching sole unit, a white and black marbled effect hits the uppermost layer while the full-length Air midsole is supported by a translucent rubber outsole. A red commonly used in CNY celebrations outfits the sockliner and heel tab while also accenting the midsole, completing the look alongside optional furry laces. The Nike Air Max Scorpion “Leap High” and the series’ other styles have not received an official release date from the Swoosh yet. It is currently expected to land on shelves in January for CNY via Nike and select retailers at a price of $250 USD.In other footwear news, Nike revealed Ja Morant’s first signature sneaker, the Nike Ja 1.

First Look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Vibrations of Naija”
As Jordan Brand continues to expand its global presence, its themes have become increasingly diverse. Classic collections such as the Nike subsidiary’s annual Chinese New Year-themed capsule have been joined by newer themes such as 2022’s celebration of international retailers like Manilla-based TITAN on the Air Jordan 2 Low. Looking ahead to 2023, Jordan Brand looks to be tapping into Nigerian design with its upcoming Air Jordan 1 High OG “Vibrations of Naija.”Arriving in a timeless color composition of white, off-white and black, this pair offers a versatile look with a thematic twist. Its upper favors a white leather presentation that puts a spotlight on the sneaker’s unique textile Swooshes and collar. These details likely lean into the colorway’s Nigerian inspiration, though specifics regarding its roots have not yet been shared. A yellow-heavy off-white appears at the collar’s Wings logo, the laces, lining and rubber outsole to complete the overview of this first look.Currently, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Vibrations of Naija” is scheduled to release May 27 via Nike and select retailers at a price of $180 USD.
