ASICS Revamps Its Running-Inspired GEL-1090 Silhouette

Following a 2021 glow up from Seoul-based label Andersson Bell, ASICS’ epochal GEL-1090 silhouette returns, this time drawing inspiration from the lines of a motorcycle.Designed to emphasise the notion of speed, this modern take on the 2003 running sneaker boasts a simplified upper construction, yet retains the characteristics we’ve come to expect, most notably the tiger claw marks on the toe overlays and heel counter. A series of grooves adorn the midsole to evoke a waving checkered flag, while the heel houses ASICS’ archetypal GEL cushioning to provide unrivaled comfort.Decorated with pops of white, silver and orange, the sneaker is rounded out with a unique lacing system and subtle branding towards the rear.ASICS’ latest GEL-1090 is set to drop on the 43einhalb webstore on January 15 and will cost €99.95 (approximately $115 USD).In other footwear news, Billionaire Boys Club has given Reebok’s Zig Kinetica II a stealth makeover.

Billionaire Boys Club Gives Reebok’s Zig Kinetica II a Stealth Makeover

Reuniting once again, Billionaire Boys Club and Reebok hammer out another collaboration utilizing the Zig Kinetica II. The duo previously released a pack of Instapump Fury BOOSTs which drew inspiration from organic elements for the tech-infused running shoes.BBC also gave other silhouettes a splash of its branding with the BB 4000 Mu done up in dollar signs and diamonds as well as the Question model draped in “Beepers & Butts” and “Name Chains” graphics.To further its joint effort with the sportswear house, BBC gave the Reebok Zig Kinetica II another unique design iteration opting for an earthy colorway. A pixelated camo print mesh shapes the forefront of the shoe with an overlay of Cream-colored stitches while Artichoke Green perforated suede forms the heel cap and tongue showcasing a lace support reading the brand’s name. Further details such as suede stitches and pull tabs add a subtle contrast in Mushroom Brown while a Cream TPU frame houses the Lightweight Floatride Fuel cushioning over a translucent muddy-like rubber outsole.The Billionaire Boys Club x Reebok Zig Kinetica II is reported to release sometime in the coming weeks at select retailers and via Reebok for $150 USD.In case you missed it, Joe Freshgoods teased an upcoming New Balance 993 collaboration.

New Balance 992 Gets Treated With Blue and Gray Uppers

New Balance showed a ton of love to its 992 silhouette in 2021 by unloading a plethora of GRs along with collaborations alongside Concepts, Levi’s, Todd Snyder and more. Wasting no time in the new year to bring some attention to the lifestyle offering, New Balance has just revealed the model in a new colorway that features bold blue and gray uppers.Mesh and buttery suedes are the two main materials that formulate the upper half, the former of which composes the underlays while the latter is used for the overlays. A bold cobalt blue spills onto the collars, toe boxes and front ends, while a the laces and quarter panels are drenched in a muted gray. Navy blue accents also get invited to this ensemble as it swathes the interior lining, tongues, “N” logos and mudguards.
