“Lucky Green” has been a semi-active color scheme for Jordan Brand over the last few years, appearing on the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 13 as well as updated models like the Air Jordan 1 Low Elevate. It doesn’t seem like the scheme’s luck is going to be running out any time soon either, as on-foot sneaker photo king @yankeekicks has displayed a set of shots of the Air Jordan 2 in a “Lucky Green” colorway.Where the above-mentioned models made heavy use of the kelly green shade, this take on Michael Jordan’s second signature sneaker applies it more sparingly, placing it on the heel, collar and forefoot piping plus the tongue’s trim and logo as an accent to the smooth and pebbled white leathers that make up the shoe’s base. Further flair is served up by a slight black gradient fade on the previously-mentioned piping, as well as off-white details on the heel and midsole plus hits of grey on the outsole. There’s more than a little bit of Boston Celtics style here, which leads to an interesting fact: though Jordan averaged 39.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game against the Celtics in the NBA Playoffs, he never won a playoff game against them. During his clashes with the Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish-led C’s in 1986 and 1987, Jordan’s Chicago Bulls went 0-6 — though MJ did turn in one of his most famous early-career efforts, scoring 63 points in a 1986 performance that led Larry Bird to quip he thought it was “God disguised as Michael Jordan.” Due to that history, it would be one heck of a full-circle moment if Jordan Brand family member and Celtics star Jayson Tatum laces up a pair next season. The Air Jordan 2 “Lucky Green” has been reported for a February 2 release, but this has yet to be confirmed by Jordan Brand or Nike. When it does drop, it should retail for $185 USD.Elsewhere in the world of the Jumpman, rumor has it that the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” is coming back in 2023.

The Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” May Be Returning in 2023
Michael Jordan finished off his first three-peat with the Chicago Bulls in 1993, besting the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals. On Jordan’s feet during the six-game series was the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs,” a shoe that — per a report from @zsneakerheadz — may be returning in 2023 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Though the news has yet to be confirmed by Nike or Jordan Brand, the “Playoffs” coming back to market next year would be fitting: they last released in 2013 to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and Jordan Brand has never been one to pass up an opportunity to retell the stories of MJ’s achievements. If the “Playoffs” do indeed return, you can expect them to rehash their classic jet-black nubuck build — likely of a higher grade than the last retro release, which used a relatively thin cut of nubuck that was prone to creasing — chenille tongue tag, multi-colored heel overlay detailing, and, of course, the signature criss-crossing wings that cover the throat. Besides their original 1993 release and 2013 retro pictured above, the “Playoffs” also released in 2007 and dropped in a low-top form back in 2003.If the early reports hold true, the “Playoffs” will touch down on September 2, 2023 for a yet-to-be-determined retail price.Elsewhere in the world of Jordan Brand, the Jumpman has stayed busy by signing Euphoria actor and amateur boxer Javon “Wanna” Walton (better known to most as Ashtray), making him their youngest-ever team member.
