After releasing their Club C “Memory Of” V2 collection in September, Maison Margiela and Reebok meet again for the TZ Pump Deadstock, a new trainer concept that honors a pop cultural sneaker icon with intentional elements of aging.Like past iterations, Margiela’s creative director John Galliano prioritizes deconstruction – this time, by imitating the transformative process of hydrolysis, or the chemical breakdown of PU polymer that occurs over several years. According to the House, the collaborative sneaker is based on a three-dimensional scan of the original Omni Zone II, which launched in 1990 and gained notoriety thanks to basketballer Dominique Wilkins.Breaking down the original TZ Pump, the new silhouette includes an aged upper crafted via staining and distress, a cracked midsole brought to life by hand painting, and a still-crisp, bright orange emblem that reads “The Pump” on the sneaker’s tongue. The revamped iteration will arrive in the shoes original three colorways: white, black and neon yellow; white, black and red; and white, black and blue. The Maison Margiela x Reebok TZ Pump Deadstock will be available beginning November 18 in select Maison Margiela stores and on the label’s website. The trainer will be listed at a retail price of $1,150 USD.Take a look at the silhouette in the gallery above. In more footwear news, Yoon Ahn unveiled a new AMBUSH x Nike Aire Force 1 Low “Green/Yellow.”
