Justin Saunders’ JJJJound has made a name for itself in the world of footwear collaborations, consistently producing timeless hits that are sought after for their focus on simplicity and premium material-centric aesthetics. Now, JJJJound continues its collaborative relationship with Reebok, following up on a recent teaser with more information regarding the release of the NPC II.The Reebok Newport Classic (now known as the NPC) has its roots in tennis, specifically harking back to the 1980s when Boris Becker and John McEnroe were in their element. Then, and even today, the tennis uniform is strictly clean and minimal, and this played into Reebok’s look and feel perfectly — in turn, creating the now-iconic NPC. JJJJound echoes the footwear giant’s expertise in classic minimalism for its NPC II collaboration, decking its pair in an abundance of premium white pebbled leather.In addition to this, you’ll find a nylon tongue in cream that complements the muted off white tones of the sole unit and terry cotton toweling sock liner. JJJJound’s signature is stamped on the lateral mid-panel in gold lettering, while a non-marking outsole and crisp white laces complete the timeless look.Per JJJJound’s Instagram account, its Reebok NPC II collaboration will be available to buy sometime this week. Following early word of a Supreme x Nike ACG collaboration, we now have rumors of a potential Supreme x Nike SB collaboration. Also expected to arrive during the Fall/Winter 2022 season, the rumored release is expected to be a sequel to the quilted snakeskin Nike SB Blazers released by Supreme in 2006.The first images of the potential FW22 quilted snakeskin Supreme x Nike SB Blazer collaboration reveal a “Black/Golden” colorway. Expected to be one of three colorways coming, the shoe features quilted black premium uppers accented by snakeskin Swooshes. Additional detailing comes in the form of co-branded tongue tags, “NIKE” cut-out heel tabs, special laces, matching hardware at the rear and printed insoles. The shoes are also belived to come in special packaging marking the team-up.Look for the Supreme x Nike SB Blazer Mid to release during Fall/Winter 2022 at Supreme locations and online. Mr. Bailey continues his budding partnership with adidas Originals for the latest conceptual sneaker titled “OZLUCENT.” First teased last month through an elusive Instagram post, the collaborative silhouette has now surfaced alongside a futuristic campaign.Following last year’s “Ammonite Superstar” the multi-faceted designer elevates his scientific underwater theme, this time inspired by the lifecycle of the Aurelia Aurita, commonly known as the moon jellyfish. The sneaker’s design cues are informed by the three phases of the sea creature’s lifecycle: the heel references the Polyp, a plant-like structure embedded onto the ocean floor, the mid represents an Ephyra, breaking off the former to metamorphose into an infant jellyfish boasting distinct Y-shaped tentacles and lastly, the Medusa — its two-foot wide final form.Arriving in stealthy all-black hues, the sneaker’s mid-top makeup is reminiscent of the sturdiness of basketball footwear but fit for the future. A complex polyurethane-constructed skeletal upper — crafted using three separate molds to achieve its rigid shape — wraps around the co-branded inner neoprene sock and if that layer wasn’t enough, the sneaker is rounded off with the three stripes’ signature AdiPLUS midsole cushioning for added comfort.With the project’s objective being to “understand aquatic life forms and how natural engineering systems can influence the latest footwear technology,” Mr. Bailey has set out to conceptualize a complete immersive consumer experience. As per the teaser, the sneaker is presented inside an inflated amniotic sac made from sugarcane and cellulose and encased within a mycelium box that has been custom-grown specifically around its internal packaging imitating the hood of a jellyfish.The latest campaign, shot by Tayler Prince-Fraser, aligns with the blurring fantasy and reality concept. Taking an underwater excavation approach, the sneaker is showcased in its intended habitat — bringing scuba diving to surface level through shadow experimentation and sleek black styling.The “OZLUCENT” sneaker marks the launch of Mr. Bailey and adidas Originals’ OZMORPHIS development series, bridging the gap between the designer’s marine biology ethos and the sportswear brand’s progressive footwear technologies.
