Jordan Brand Unveils “Year of the Tiger”-Themed 2022 Capsule Collection
Earlier this month, we caught a glimpse of Nike’s anticipated annual Chinese New Year-themed footwear as the gold-accented Air Jordan 6 Low surfaced. Since then, Jordan Brand has unveiled their 2022 capsule, which ties into the “Year of the Tiger.”Continuing the sneaker brand’s tradition of honoring CNY since 2002, festive designs adorn the latest array of Jordan shoes, T-shirts, and sweaters. Leading the lineup is the Air Jordan 1 Low OG in pale orange emblazoned with a tiger-inspired black striped pattern and a tiger head logo atop the heels. Further decorating the shoes limited to 5,000 pairs are black satin lining and a yellow translucent outsole bearing the classic Wings logo.On the other hand, the Air Jordan 6 Low and Jordan Legacy 312 draw inspiration from Chinese ceramics – the Five Great Kilns – produced during the Song dynasty. In particular, the former features a cracking pattern that resembles the “Ge” porcelain in the toe box and surrounding area. Other standout apparel designs include a Jumpman logo with clouds and birds and Chinese-style buckles on a reversible black and orange bomber jacket. The Jordan Brand 2022 CNY capsule collection is set to release on December 30th in the Greater China region, with a global release in February 2022 to follow on the Nike website and at select retailers. In case you missed it, Nike gives its Blazer Mid Jumbo another “Voodoo” makeover.
Nike Dunk High “Vintage Black” Is Designed With Pre-Yellowed Midsoles
Given all the success that the Dunk has had in recent memory, it’s in Nike’s best interest to keep its momentum rolling along by unloading even more variations in the new year. And in the coming months, the Swoosh has intentions of dropping several new colorways that align with the aged motif, one being this Nike Dunk High “Vintage Black” that has just made its way onto our radar. This particular pair looks somewhat similar to the black and white Dunk Highs that dropped earlier this year, but it sports several different differences in materials that allow it to stand on its own. White coatings are applied to the tongues, perforated to boxes, mid-foot and collars, while the Swooshes and overlays are dyed in black and given a slight sheen. Instead of bringing in laces that match up with the overlays, this iteration is prepared with creamy shoe strings to further echo its vintage-inspired intent.Midsoles are devised with a pre-yellowed exterior to make these look like they’ve been sitting in a closet since the 1985s, while the bottoms are round off its design with a full black outer.Nike SNKRS and other shops will likely be releasing this colorway in the coming months. For other sneaker news, be sure to peep a glimpse at the upcoming Union x Nike Cortez.
