Skepta and Nike’s Air Max Tailwind V Takes Flight in This Week’s Best Footwear Drops

With March giving way to April, the world’s biggest footwear brands are looking to start the new month off with a bang. Nike, New Balance, Reebok, Vans and more have readied a fresh crop of styles for the footwear-loving public, and we’ve narrowed this week’s offerings down to the 10 best. Before we look at what’s in store for us over the next seven days, however, let’s cast an eye back on everything that went down last week. The latest installment of Sole Mates saw chart-topping artist 24kGoldn riff on the role sneaker culture played in his come-up and his current affection for Lanvin’s high-priced Curb sneaker. Goldn wasn’t the only Gen Z star making noise last week though: Lil Nas X stole the show by working with creative studio MSCHF on the “Satan Shoes,” a custom Air Max 97 with a drop of real human blood in its cushioning unit that sold out in less than a minute. As you might imagine, Nike was not particularly thrilled by the style — and quickly sued MSCHF in an attempt to prevent the shoes from being shipped.Apart from taking legal action against irreverent creative studios, the Swoosh also readied a plethora of its own styles. Skepta’s Air Max Tailwind V was officially announced, and a Travis Scott Air Max 1 collaboration was teased on Air Max Day. We also saw official images of Wasted Youth’s SB Dunk Low and got an on-foot look at the SB Dunk Low “What the P-Rod.”Jordan Brand made some noise as well, revealing official images of the Air Jordan 4 “University Blue.” There were also early glimpses at the Air Jordan 1 “Pollen” and the Air Jordan 4 “Tech Grey.” On the ultra-rare PE front, Usher’s all-gold Air Jordan 9s and Air Jordan 11s were put up for auction. Moving from the Swoosh to the Three Stripes, there was a wealth of news from Kanye West and the adidas YEEZY line. We got our best glimpse yet at the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Mono Mist,” saw the YEEZY BOOST 700 “Bright Blue” and checked out the YEEZY FOAM RNNR in “Mineral Blue.” Apart from Mr. West, Bad Bunny’s second Forum Low Buckle collaboration was revealed by the reggaeton superstar himself and Overkill presented a graffiti-inspired ZX8500. Rounding off the week’s goings-on was Ronnie Fieg announcing a brand-new Clarks line dubbed “8th Street” and two sneakers from emerging brands: Plessume’s Nike and Rick Owens Dunk-inspired Slam High and Collegium’s distressed high-tops. Caught up? Cool. Let’s get into what this week has to offer. ASICS “Takes Human-Centric Design to the Next Level” With METASPEED

ASICS has followed up the launch of its Tokyo-inspired NOVABLAST by unveiling two takes of its all-new METASPEED silhouette.Dubbed the METASPEED Sky and METASPEED Edge, each sneaker has been scientifically-designed with distinct running styles in mind — a move described as “taking human-centric design to the next level” by the brand.Dressed in shades of red and black — a “Sunrise Red” combination inspired by the Tokyo — the METASPEED Sky intends to extend the stride length of its wearer. Boasting an energetic FF Blast Turbo midsole foam that houses a propelling carbon plate, the shoe helps to conserve energy and maintain higher speeds for longer distances. The METASPEED Edge, on the other hand, looks at controlling a runner’s cadence. Built on a slightly different stack height to the Sky — yet almost identical to the eye — the Edge allows runners to elongate their stride, all the while encouraging a more smooth, controlled and relaxed pace. The METASPEED Sky is set to launch on the ASICS webstore on March 31, with the METASPEED Edge slated to be available from June 4.In other footwear news, Reebok’s DMX Trail Shadow has been given a seasonal “Deep Forest” makeover.

Paul George’s Nike PG 5 “Playstation 5” Colorway Could Be Releasing This Year

Images of a potentially new Paul George Sony “PlayStation 5” Nike have just surfaced. The signature model that’s been chosen for this PS5 colorway is the very-fitting PG 5 basketball sneaker. Like the PlayStation colorways before, this new PG 5 really sticks with the console’s main color combinations for two colorway versions — the perfect execution of blue, white, and black for this colorway is on a level that would make even Anfernee Hardaway jealous.Details like the PS5’s loading screen, white outer shell, DualSense controller, and gradient-blue underglow are all factored in for both versions, and if the mini “X,” “O,” and Square and Triangle icons weren’t enough to sell this as a Sony-themed colorway, the “PS5” branding at the heel, lateral-side midfoot, and tongue, along with the shoe tag should do the trick. There are no official details just yet but sources say the Nike Paul George “PlayStation 5” PG 5 will release this year at a price of $110 USD.In other footwear news, Nike sues MSCHF over Lil Nas X Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes” collab.
