Kyrie Irving’s Nike Kyrie 7 Surfaces With “Weatherman” Inspired Makeover

It’s no secret that Kyrie Irving has a penchant for fashioning his footwear in a way that alludes to previously iconic Nike sneakers such as the Kobe 5 “Bruce Lee” or the Nike SB Dunk Low “Raygun”. Given that he now plays alongside two-time champion Kevin Durant, he’ll now be paying homage to the Nike KD 4 “Weatherman” — a colorway that originally launched in 2011 which was inspired by Durant’s desire to become a weatherman had he not been an NBA player — through this forthcoming Kyrie 7 colorway. To translate the Slim Reaper’s offering from 10 years ago, Nike calls upon a bold green hue to take over the mesh netting that covers the side paneling, toe boxes, shoe laces and tongues. This comes complemented with volt patterns that lie beneath the aforementioned mesh in addition to notes of black that spill over the Kyrie tongue logos, Swoosh outlines, forefoot eye stays, eyelets nearest the ankle and the all-seeing eye/”7″ embroidery that graces the rear. The “7” accent here is clearly utilized to reflect Irving’s seventh signature shoe, but it’s also a coincidence that this also happens to be Durant’s jersey number with the Brooklyn Nets. From there, the topographic heat map patterns enliven the the heel counters and interior lining. Moreover, the insoles split between a “The Forecast Calls For A Thunder Storm” hit on the left side, while the right side prints out lightning bolt, cloud and sun icons.A release date for the Nike Kyrie 7 “Weatherman” is still unknown, but it’s likely that that they’ll drop via Nike SNKRS and select retailers in the coming months for $130 USD.For more footwear news, Skepta recently teased his second Nike Air Max Tailwind V collaboration.

Vivienne Westwood Reconnects With ASICS For New GEL-Kayano 27 LTX Collection

For ASICS and its footwear department, much of the chips have gone into further adding to its collaborative portfolio for these early months of the year. Following partnerships with the likes of Ballaholic, Andersson Bell and COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT, the sportswear brand is now reconvening with the Vivienne Westwood team to cook up a three-pronged GEL-Kayano 27 LTX collection. The design is a departure from the British punk/new wave sensibilities seen on the two parties’ last GEL-Kayano 26 capsule, and instead proffers up a much more sleek and futuristic theme. Its profile is established with a mid-like stature, and is highlighted by the semi-translucent TPU shell that is inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s archival latex stockings. This layer is furnished with co-branded notations that are slapped on the lateral ankle, an ASICS embellishment that rests near the top of the throat, and contrasting design lines that see their way to the toe tips, down the heel and throat and around the ankle. Additionally, a zipper is positioned on the lateral wall to fasten the aforementioned TPU fabric, and the tiger stripes peek out from the inner bootie.Down below, these fashion-forward kicks are bolstered with FLYTEFOAM cushioning to provide a cloud-like feel with every step.Three colorways including a “Vapor/Black”, “Citrus/Black” and “Black/Black” are available now through Vivienne Westwood and ASICS for $240 USD each. adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Light” is Constructed With a UV Sensitive Upper

Despite all of the conversations around Kanye West’s recent split from Kim Kardashian and the back and forth over his actual net worth, there’s no denying that his YEEZY footwear empire with adidas is still continuing to trend in the upwards direction. As if the early 2021 months haven’t showed us enough, Ye is further building out his footwear roster here with the adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Light” that comes built with never-before-seen-UV sensitive technology.Given that many of the YEEZY 350 V2 colorways have been starting to look all too familiar to its predecessors, it is quite refreshing to see the mainstay silhouette receive a constructional modification. At first glance, the sneaker may seem a bit plain at first due to the nature of its base layers primarily being done up in cream white. However, the twist here is that the PrimeKnit, along with the side stripes have been altered in such a way that they color-shift at various points when the sunlight penetrates them. According to leaker account YEEZY MAFIA, the pattern details morph into a soft pink hue, while the stripes transform into an amber tone.Ribbed midsoles will continue the neutral motif by arriving with more creamy skins and getting mated with muted beige treading.Expect the adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Light” to launch this Summer for the customary $220 USD price tag.For other footwear news, HYPEBEAST recently sat down with adidas to dive deeper into Torsion technology.
