Nike’s D/MS/X sub-label is known for its modernized takes on archival Nike Sportswear silhouettes, one of which is the D/MS/X Waffle. A current-day iteration of a silhouette whose roots run all the way back to Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman’s Blue Ribbon Sports era, the D/MS/X Waffle is equal parts past, present and future, and has now been given a sustainable makeover.Textile uppers consist of two main pieces — a dark orange/brown forefoot and a gray heel — split by a “Sci-Fi Purple” swoosh and capped by a similarly toned heel tab. Exposed foam tongues are dressed in gray as well, with bold branded accents appearing on heel tabs and tonge tags alike. Down below, the trim EVA foam midsole is bolstered by a piece of marbled gray rubber with orange and blue detailing. This striking addition runs from the toe to the heel before dropping down and folding back into the midfoot, where it connects with the outsole. The outsole itself boasts a waffle pattern and recycled NikeGrind rubber, even rising onto the toe for an extra pop of look-completing style. The Regrind-equipped D/MS/X Waffle is available now via Nike Hong Kong, and is priced at $799 HKD (approximately $130 USD).Looking for more fresh Swoosh sneakers? UNDEFEATED and Converse Reveal Next Batch of Chuck 70 Hi “Fundamentals”
UNDEFEATED’s “Fundamentals” program — an initiative that kicked off for Summer 2020 that entails a series of curated essential pieces — is transferring its energy to the new year through a reconnection with Converse. Together, the two brands have joined hands again to work on another duo of Chuck 70 Hi colorways. The classic hoops-turned-lifestyle silhouette calls upon the similar “Parchment” and “Black” color schemes that appeared on the initial duo of makeups, but these newest updates offer up slightly different design cues. Both options permit their titular hues to decorate the canvas uppers and midsoles alike, while at the same time sprawling vibrant blue accents to the strip just above the midsoles as well as on the five strike logos which are tethered to the forefoot.M edial side patches twist things up a bit as they have been wiped completely clean of the traditional One Star branding. Moreover, the heels also feature more branding as “UNDEFEATED” spelled out vertically and tonally on each iteration.Peep an in-depth view of the capsule above, and mark your calendars for an exclusive UNDEFEATED launch on February 19.
