Vault by Vans Goes Back to the ’80s to Revive the Style 24

Vault by Vans is going back to a bygone era of the Van Doren Rubber Company with its new Style 24 release. A shoe from the ’80s originally dubbed “Goddard” and “Primosoll,” the Style 24 is a high-top canvas silhouette that’s seemingly equal parts skateboarding and tennis. It was a favorite of skaters like the late, great Jeff Grosso, and was also recently reintroduced to market via a NOAH collaboration. Two classic colorways are available: Vans’ signature checkerboard print in black and white and a rich navy. The checkerboard colorway is decidedly louder than its counterpart, thanks to its all-over pattern, repeating Vans logos and thick white eyestay piping. The navy colorway almost looks like a pair of blue jeans in footwear form, and is embellished with clean white contrast stitching. Both pairs are brought together by a sizable rubber toe cap. Though this detail is commonplace on many a skate shoe in 2021, it was a revelation in the ’80s thanks to the extra feel and durability it afforded skaters. White midsoles with Vans’ famous heel badge and signature waffle outsoles complete each look. The Vault by Vans Style 24 is set to release at Japanese retailers like BILLY’s Tokyo on August 13. Each pair is priced at a tax-included ¥9,350 JPY (approximately $85 USD).On the hunt for more news regarding upcoming sneaker releases?
