Vans and Tierra Whack Link Up for a Full Footwear and Apparel Collection

Following a joint effort with MOCA to unveil a new collection featuring designs by a trio of Californian artists, Vans taps rapper Tierra Whack for an exclusive collaboration consisting of both apparel and footwear celebrating creativity and childhood. In hand with Whack’s longtime stylist Shirley Kurata, the duo combines the brand’s heritage with a 1980s style to form pieces that exude the Philadelphia rapper’s unique and vibrant personal fashion sense and music. Molded with a variety of colors, shapes, patterns and phrases, the collection emphasizes a playful tone in turn echoing the “Whack” vision.Highlighting the lineup are the Vans x Tierra Whack Old Skool and Style 36 which the former is decked with an enlarged and multicolored “WHACK” text on the laterals with the sole imprinted with “Weird Hype and Creative Kids.” The design saw an initial release during her performance at the 2019 House of Vans event in Philadelphia. For the latter, the shoe opts for a two-toned contrasting makeup with a cream suede base and a striking cobalt blue hue detailing the fuzzy laces and rubber sole.Taking the silhouette of the Vans Classic, the Vans x Tierra Whack Half Cab is a fusion of bold candy-like shades with the brand’s signature checkerboard pattern. Green fuzzy laces loop around eyelets reading “Weird Hype and Creative Kids” over alternating blue and green sockliners. Completing the funky collection is the weather-ready Vans x Tierra Whack Standard Snow MTE in full Cyber Yellow patent leather uppers with a matching midsole and a black lug outsole to seal it all together.”It was an amazing experience to be able to take what I do with music and apply it to fashion,” said Whack. “Making music is all about collaboration and it was great to work with Shirley and with Vans to give people a collection they can feel free in.”The apparel roster accompanies the footwear range in complementing colorways which includes the Vans x Tierra Whack Twofer — a ringer tee displaying contrasting printed long-sleeves along with a message from Tierra reading “It’s Okay to Cry.” A Vans Authentic Chino, packable puffer vest and reversible ripstop bucket hat complete the full head-to-toe selection. The Tierra Whack x Vans collection is slated to release on December 3 at select Vans retailers and on Vans’ website. In case you missed it, take an on-foot look at the Supreme x Nike “By Any Means” in the “Brazil” colorway.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
