Usain Bolt’s PUMA Basket Collaboration Salutes the Tokyo Olympic Games

Usain Bolt and PUMA have released a collaborative iteration of the classic Basket as a salute to the Tokyo Olympic Games. Bolt retired from competition in 2017, but he’s still the “fastest man alive,” a world record holder in the 100m and 200m sprints as well as the 4 x 100m relay, so his tribute to the Games is an undeniably fitting one.Because the Games are taking place in Japan’s capital, Bolt’s Basket is stuffed full of Japanese-inspired details. Its red-trimmed Formstrip shows off a gray cloud print, as does the heel piece. Japan’s flag is nodded to on the heel’s cut-out detail, and Japanese characters appear on the tongue as well. There’s plenty of Bolt branding to be seen too, namely his signature in gold on the lateral quarter and a gold silhouette of him performing his signature victory “point” on the heel, plus further embellishment on the inner half of the tongue tag. From a construction standpoint, the Bolt Basket is made of white leather and sits atop a white rubber midsole. The Games may end on August 8, but interested parties can purchase the Usain Bolt x PUMA Basket from the PUMA webstore now. Its MSRP is set at $80 USD.For more PUMA news, be sure to check out The Marathon Clothing x PUMA “The Miami Story” collection — a tribute to one of the late Nipsey Hussle’s favorite cities.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
