Someone has just paid over $200,000 USD for a pair of secondhand Birkenstock sandals previously owned and worn by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, officially setting a record for the highest price paid for a pair of sandals at auction.Sold at Julien’s Auctions, the pair of brown suede Arizona sandals was expected to sell for $60,000 USD, but sold for a final price of $218,750 USD, accompanied with an NFT. The auction describes the sandals as “well used but still “intact,” a key part of Jobs’ wardrobe in the 1970s and ’80s. The auction house’s website states, “The cork and jute footbed retains the imprint of Steve Jobs’ feet, which had been shaped after years of use.”The sandals were saved by Jobs’ former house manager Mark Sheff and were sold as a part of the auction house’s “Icons and Idols: Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Darren Julien, CEO and founder of Julien’s Auctions, told CNN in a statement, “Steve Jobs changed the world not only with his revolutionary innovations but with his business leadership style and fashion in wearing sandals. These beloved Birkenstocks were worn by Jobs as he made history in the making of the Apple computer and were the tech icon’s signature staple.” View this post on InstagramA post shared by HYPEBEAST (@hypebeast)In other footwear news, Odell Beckham Jr. is suing Nike for over $20 million USD.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
