New Balance and Raheem Sterling Partner for Jamaica-Inspired Football Boots

England and Manchester City player Raheem Sterling has unveiled a new collaboration with New Balance, the brand he signed with back in May of this year. The new release celebrates Sterling’s Jamaican roots, with a limited-edition take on the Furon v6+ silhouette. The boot’s design also celebrates the strong bond Sterling has with his mother, and how important her choices and influence have been on his life. The bright green and gold color palette is complemented with Jamaica’s national motto (“Out of Many, One People”), as wel as the number’s 1692 and 1994, which reference the foundation of Jamaica’s modern capital Kingston, and the year that Sterling was born.Other references to the country of Sterling’s birth include a Jamaican flag on the tongue, and a specially-designed shipping label that celebrates the number of hat trick balls Sterling has sent to his mother’s house in Jamaica. The laces also mention Kingston and Maverley, where Sterling was born.Launching the boots, Sterling said, “Jamaica is a small island that’s had a massive influence on the world, whether it’s music, football, food or dance Jamaica always represents. I was a young kid when I left, but it’s a big part of my story. For me, it’s a real honour to be able to express that when I’m on the pitch.”The Raheem Sterling x New Balance Furon 6+ “Jamaica” will be worn by Sterling in his upcoming matches, and 195 pairs are now available from the New Balance football web store. For more from New Balance, refresh your memory of its trio of upcoming 550 colorways with size?.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
