When Holly Wheeler vanished in the first volume of Stranger Things’ hugely hyped final season, she left a crucial clue to her whereabouts outside a mysterious wall in the Upside Down: a tan, turquoise, and pink suede boot.
That boot—a limited-edition collaboration between the Minnesota-based brand and the hit Netflix series—is featured so prominently that Holly Wheeler’s footwear just might become as iconic as Steve Harrington’s gravity-defying hair among fans.
“The response to the Holly Boot has been extremely positive,” says Minnetonka President Jori Miller Sherer of the style, which retails for $89.95 to $129.95. “We’re surprised that we sold out of the adult sizes and the keychain version already.”
The “story” of the Holly Wheeler Boot began in 2023, when Stranger Things costume designer Amy Parris reached out to Minnetonka for an era-appropriate style the youngest Wheeler sibling (played by 14-year-old British actress Nell Fisher) could sport for season five. Staff at the brand’s headquarters combed through the archives for inspiration but ultimately opted to design a new style that mixed more modern elements with heritage ones.
“It has been so fun to share this [boot] with the passionate Stranger Things fan base,” says Miller Sherer. “Stranger Things embodies the 1980s in a truly authentic and fun way, so teaming up was a match made in ’80s nostalgic heaven. Minnetonka has been central to many fashion trends over the last eight decades, especially in the ’80s, so it was a natural fit to collaborate with them on this style.”
Expect more memorable new releases from Minnetonka as the brand gears up for its 80th anniversary in 2026. To mark the milestone, “We’re going to be releasing new styles that not only honor our rich heritage but speak to our bright future,” says Miller Sherer. “I’m excited for what’s to come.”
In the meantime, with Volume 2 of Stranger Things 5 set to drop next week on Christmas day, fans can expect to see more of Holly and her distinctive Minnetonkas as she and the gang battle archvillain Vecna.
