If you haven’t already heard (we’d be surprised if you haven’t), Highsnobiety Sports Round 01 has recently launched with a pop-up at LA’s Fred Segal on the corner of Sunset and La Cienega Boulevards to merge all the best of sport and style.
Flexing a range of workout gear, worthy for both in the gym and on the street, the pop-up includes a group of impressive brands, including select pieces from Merrell. To commemorate the partnership, we teamed up with Merrell to host a panel discussion last week to talk about all things hiking.
Our host, Usual Project founder Michael Washington, led the conversation which ultimately illuminated the night’s topic of discussion: the heightened sense of connectedness brought along with time spent outdoors – whether with oneself, each other, or with the planet.
To get expert insight, we tapped pro outdoors people Max Vallot, co-founder of District Vision, Jeein Shin, founder of Comfortable Adventures, and Evelynn Escobar, founder of Hike Clerb. Adding their unique insight as to why the outdoor space is significant to them, both personally and professionally, guests weighed in on predominately hiking-inspired themes of mindfulness, sustainability, and community.
Merrell’s latest drop features its Moab, a hiking shoe that flexes comfort and ventilation, so that you can focus on all of the feel-good sentiments of being outside. Vallot himself even hit the trails a couple of weeks ago to test the Moab out for himself in California’s Topanga Canyon. The results? A shoe that provides an experience that Vallot says is, “synonymous with West Coast hiking culture.”
