Fifteen years ago, almost to the day, Jordan Brand unleashed a storm
The “Thunder and Lightning Pack” sent shockwaves through the sneakerhead community with its wild color combinations and matching apparel (as well as the price tag.)
Featuring two different takes on the Air Jordan 4, the “Thunder” pair (black upper, yellow highlights) came with a varsity jacket for a hefty $500 retail price point, while the “Lightning” version (yellow upper, grey detailing) was packaged with an Air Jordan “Flight” T-shirt and came in at $250.
As with many of these wild releases, the “Thunder and Lightning” pack became a highly sought-after set in the years that followed.
AJ 4 enthusiasts were able to get their hands on a re-release of the former when the “Thunder” colorway returned in 2012, but its counterpart has been elusive. Until now, that is.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Tour Yellow,’ dropping on 8/28, brings back that long-awaited bright lightning-esque shade after a decade and a half of waiting.
Dressed in full-grain nubuck leather, the ‘Tour Yellow’ is the second release we’ve seen this month with a bright yellow look.
The 2021 cousin of the “Lightning” pair features black tooling, a white midsole and Dark Blue Grey accents to complete the picture.
