Japanese Patterns Adorn the Nike Air Max 95 “Smoke Grey”

The 90s era is still one of the most influential time periods for fashion and footwear, especially when it comes to Nike’s archives as many of its models that were introduced during this era still hold just as much, if not more popularity today. One of those silhouettes is the Nike Air Max 95 and it’s now being reimagined in a fresh “Smoke Grey” palette that carries heavy Japanese influence. While its blend of neutral toned uppers and vivid accents are striking, these aren’t necessarily the elements that give these specific kicks its appeal. Japan-inspired patterns are the center of attention here, and this can first be spotted out on the heels via the monochromatic Seigaiha graphics that are debossed into the reflective panel. These wave-like etchings also show face on the bottom of the kicks. If you take a peek inside the kicks, you’ll notice that floral patterns — which likely nod to the Asian country’s beautiful cherry blossom season — run the length of the insoles.Elsewhere on these kicks, the uppers bear gradient gray panels that get lighter as you transition from top to bottom and come contrasted with bright white tongues and overlays as well as bold red accents that fill in the Nike branding, lace loops and Air units.Nike Japan is releasing these come August 15 for ¥20,900 (approx. $190 USD).In case you missed it, first photos of the Nike Dunk Low “Midas Gold” have popped up.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
