Launched in the summer of 2020, Heaven by American designer Marc Jacobs is a subversive sub-label that taps into the angsty emotions of youthful rebellion in the ’90s. Led by Brooklyn-based designer Ava Nirui, Heaven’s collaboration with Dr. Martens reimagines DM’s classic Strap Platform Sandals and Mary Jane shoes. The Mary Jane shoes — which have been reinterpreted as the Addina Heaven by MJ Bex — date back to the ’80s, found everywhere from Paris runways to Harajuku streets. The Heaven by Marc Jacobs pairs are given a simple yet definitive rework with a silver double-headed bear clasp as well as additional bear motifs and co-branding on the insoles. Uppers are finished in smooth black leathers, soles are secured via Dr. Marten’s signature Goodyear-welted lines, and AirWair loops are secured on the heels. The summer-ready Strap Platform Sandals arrive in supple black Brando leather with lightweight neoteric platform soles. Brushed silver double-headed bear claps decorate the rear fastener and co-branded molded rubber labels are featured on the heel. Rounding out the design is yellow welt stitching that offers the trademark Dr. Martens look. The collaborative pairs are now on sale on the Marc Jacobs and Dr. Martens online stores as well as select dealers in Japan for $160 USD.Elsewhere in footwear, take an on-foot look at the AMBUSH x Nike Air Adjust Force “White/Black.”Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
